Description

A six-post power rack and a dual-stack cable station in one footprint, so you never have to choose between barbell work and cables.

Most home gyms end up with a rack in one corner and a cable machine in another, or they go without cables altogether. The Again Faster® Rival Rear Functional Trainer Power Rack builds both into one frame. Squat, bench and press at the front. Pull up from the top. Then turn to the cables for pulldowns, rows, flyes and single-arm work, without moving across the room or giving up more floor.

Why a rack with a rear functional trainer?

  • One footprint, two machines. A rack and a cable station usually need two separate spaces. Here the stacks sit inside the rear bay of a six-post frame.
  • The front stays clear. The weight stacks are behind a shroud at the back, not bolted to the sides, so nothing gets in the way of your barbell, bench or walk-out.
  • Train heavy, then finish properly. Do your main lift in the rack, then move straight to the accessory and isolation work that supports it.
  • Safer solo training. Spotter straps catch the bar if a rep goes wrong, and cable work has no bar to get stuck under.
  • Small steps on the cables. The 2:1 ratio adds 2.25kg at a time, ideal for single-arm work, smaller muscles and rehab.
  • Quick changes. Move the pin and go, which suits supersets, circuits and PT sessions.

Who it is for

  • Home and garage gyms that want a complete strength setup in a single footprint.
  • Lifters building their first serious gym who would rather buy one well-designed machine than a rack now and cables later.
  • PT studios and small facilities that need barbell training and a cable station but only have room for one machine.

What you can train

  • In the rack: back and front squats, bench press (with a bench), overhead press, rack pulls, pull-ups and chin-ups.
  • Back: lat pulldowns, low rows, straight-arm pulldowns, face pulls.
  • Chest and shoulders: cable flyes, single-arm presses, lateral and front raises.
  • Arms: curls, hammer curls, overhead and pushdown triceps work.
  • Core and lower body: woodchops, Pallof presses, cable crunches, pull-throughs, kickbacks.

Cable handles and a lat bar are not included. You will need attachments such as D-handles, a lat bar, a rope or an ankle strap for the cable movements.

How it compares

A power rack plus a separate functional trainerTwo machines, two footprints and two bills. The Rival puts both in one six-post frame.
A cable attachment bolted to your rackStacks bolted to the sides make the rack wider and take up the uprights you use for barbell work. The Rival keeps its stacks in the rear bay, so the front stays clear.

Short on floor space and only need cables? Take a look at the Again Faster® Rival Wall-Mounted Cable Rack, which sits just 780mm off the wall.

The rack

  • Six-post frame in 60 x 60 x 3mm steel with 17mm holes at 50mm spacing.

FAQs

What does a 2:1 ratio mean?
The resistance at the handle is half the weight selected on the stack. A full 90kg stack gives 45kg at the handle, and each 4.5kg plate adds 2.25kg.

Are cable attachments included?
No. The rack comes with a multi-grip pull-up bar, J-hooks and spotter straps. You will need cable attachments such as D-handles and a lat bar to use the cable stations.

Does it need to be bolted down?
Yes. The rack must be bolted to a solid floor, and 8 x M10 x 100mm floor bolts are included.

Can I use my own barbell and bench?
Yes. Any standard Olympic barbell works on the J-hooks, and the rack is designed to be used with a flat or adjustable bench.

How is it delivered?
On a pallet, in 19 boxes with a total weight of around 480kg. The frame ships in 11 boxes and the weight-stack plates in 8. The longest box is about 2.2m.
