SUMMIT - CrossFit Ulverston

Summit is the home to CrossFit Ulverston, which first opened its doors in December 2023. The facility caters to individuals at all levels offering CrossFit, zone, and Pilates with monthly memberships and class credits.

The design for this facility was made easy after regular discussions with the team over at Summit around exactly what they wanted and where. We made use of our gym design tool to help share the vision with the team and easily make changes upon request. The design itself concentrated on using a 6-bay freestanding rig with rope climbing points and wall ball targets, an astroturf track, spaced away from the plan for a Pilates studio. A range of strength conditioning equipment was supplied, including a dog sled, dumbbells, kettlebells, medicine balls, benches, bars, plates and suitable storage solutions.

We spoke to the owner of Summit, Hannah, along with co-founder Joe on their experience setting up the facility:

It all started years ago with a business plan for a Pilates reformer studio. Over the years the business plan evolved but it has always been in the plans to open my own space. 5 years ago I moved to Ulverston and it was missing something in the area. I wanted to create a safe place for people with all abilities to come and train.

When we set out to get the gym up and running, we always said we wanted to be an inclusive space for everybody. When we were planning our equipment list we had to take that into account. We have kettlebells from 4kg up to 32kg & dumbbells from 5kg up to 40kg to reflect this.

We had a lot of ideas of how we wanted to design it, and we did a lot of back and forth with Again Faster. They were fantastic when it came to different designs as we wanted to chop and change the exact equipment and gym design. Again Faster saw the vision we had and wasn't solely interested in supplying equipment, but getting involved in the complete finish of the gym itself.

We had 7 weeks to get the doors open, which saw us open in early December 2023. Delivery of the equipment was unbelievably fast with everything arriving in 3-5 days. We've been really impressed with Again Faster, the members absolutely love the equipment and are able to give it a good 'thrashing' knowing it will be in the same condition the next day.
