Legacy Fitness Case Study
Sam's Story
I started out as a personal trainer and became quite busy in a commercial gym and looked to venture out to have my own facility – that led me to one-to-one training and offering big bootcamps. We had the fun environment of the bootcamp combined with the more serious, technique-focused personal training sessions. We then developed a way we could combine them both to have specific personal training sessions within small groups.
The biggest things that I have learned along the way is to enjoy the journey. You’ll find that you progress whilst the fitness world around you is also changing each year. What we class as important as coaches and gym owners such as the training technique and the exercise programs is only one part of the training.
What we’ve realized, especially in this new facility is that community and fun is so important – if people are enjoying their training they are going to keep coming back and us as coaches enjoy it more that way too.
New styles of training come in all the time whilst we do our best to keep on top of fitness trends and incorporate those into workouts. The classic resistance training including barbell exercises, cables and dumbbell work will always be a big part of any routine as they are effective.
How we develop the community and how we can record results and make fitness easier for others is the way forward with everyone. The future of training is community-based and fitness facilities promoting fun, support and positive mental health. This is going to encourage as many people as we can to get involved.
